2007 Fall Classic...

It's that time of year again... cool temperatures, overcast skies , rain that comes down sideways... and the World Series! Man this is a great country!

We all have our first memories of the Fall Classic! Mine go back to 1986, when Boston played the New York Mets, and Bill Buckner became synonymous with every person who will ever allow a clutch ground ball to go thru their legs! Who can forget Ray Knight rounding 3rd base to score, dancing up and down like a cheerleader as he crossed home plate? It was my introduction to baseball... and when Kirk Gibson hit the "I don't believe what I just saw home run" against the A's in the '88 World Series, as a die-hard Dodger fan, I'll forever be hooked. It still gives me chills to watch that highlight! Think Blue Baby!

Well this year the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red Sox go at it to claim the title of World Champion. The Rockies are playing in their first ever World Series, and having won 21 of 22 games, are red-hot and full or promise. The Red Sox won the title in 2004, and are looking for their 7th World Championship in their history. It should be a fun match-up, but it won't be close.

Colorado will get swept. Right under the rug and back to the snow in Denver. Bottom line is this - when it comes to the post-season - pitching wins championships. When you combine Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling and Dice-K you get 3 wins in the first 3 games... and then Game 4 won't even matter! It'll be mute at that point! Not to mention Big Papi, Kevin Youkilis, Man-Ram and guys like that in your line-up... forget about it.

So it's been a fun ride, and I'm one to say I've enjoyed ROCK-tober... but I'm sorry Rockies' fans.. it's OVER.
